Why Valkyrie?

I won’t lie and say, “I knew exactly what I wanted to do as a writer.” It took years for me to come to terms with the countless options I had before me. After reflecting on my core values, my true voice, I was able to determine who I wanted to be as a professional writer. In reading about Norse mythology, I quickly related with the Valkyrie. They were Odin’s right-hand women, slaying enemies left and right. No, I didn’t swing a sword and cause destruction, but I fought many battles with God by my side to escape dark times. Turns out, I had a choice who remained in my life. Just like the Valkyrie, who sought after those worthy enough to journey with them to Valhalla.

It seems that some of the Valkyries had higher ranks and were treated with great respect. Some of them received special gifts and the Odin allowed a few maidens to become swans. This gave them the opportunity to venture throughout Midgard and mingle with the humans.” (A. Sutherland, 2018)

Sure, we aren’t living in a mythological era. As a professional woman, we do deserve respect from others and ourselves. You might wonder what this has to do with writing and consulting. Think about it – you are a strong woman, whether a single Mom, a married woman with a six-figure salary, or just starting out on your own. Valkyrie Visions provides you the tools to succeed. From resume editing to brand discovery to marketing materials, I am here to help you uncover your own Valhalla.

Valhalla is depicted as a splendid palace, roofed with shields, where the warriors feast on the flesh of a boar slaughtered daily and made whole again each evening. They drink liquor that flows from the udders of a goat, and their sport is to fight one another every day.” (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica, 2020)

I admit, that doesn’t sound too appealing. Maybe you’d prefer a hall with wine and cheese, or an ice-cold beer. You’ll raise your pens in the air as depicted below and shout, “Yeah! I totally landed that second interview!” But please, don’t dress like her in an interview.
