Does anyone else feel like it's the end of the world?

I read a comment from someone on Facebook regarding the NYC tornado watch. She said, "What's next, locusts?" It made me laugh. If anyone reading this recognizes this, it's from Egyptian culture and history. I added to it saying, "and the first borns, don't forget them."
My point here is not to be insensitive, but to remind everyone that a sense of humor is a good thing. People are literally creating song parodies of the Corona Virus right now, and it's pretty comical. On the other hand, seeing my girls from Dunkin's wearing black face masks is not the norm.
Yes, we're all getting cabin fever and staying home all day long can be stressful. If you have children, you may also be dealing with added stressors of the at-home schooling. Take a deep breath. You are strong.
Never in my life did I think we'd be locked down. As a teenager, I remember locking myself in my room, completely depressed. At the time, my brother lived with us and was into hard drugs. It was very hard seeing him fight with my parents on a constant basis, so I hid in my room. While in lock down, though lonely, I did begin to work on my craft of writing. I learned various writing styles such as freestyle poetry and how to outline a novel. I taught myself that just because I was alone, there was still a chance to better myself as a human.
This is not the end all be all.
Our world is chaotic. Someone always has it worse and someone always has it better. What you do with this time can truly improve your mind, body, and soul. Focus on your hobbies, hone in on what your soul needs. If you've been trying to read more, pick up a book. If your child is afraid of not seeing their friends, set up Zoom or Facetime them on a weekly basis. Visit Pintrest for creative games or activities. Lucky us, we have the internet still. There are thousands of ideas out there.
I even have my husband on Pintrest with me!

Take a day to yourself. Or an hour. Light a candle, sip some hot tea, and write in a journal. Or maybe paint your nails. Try baking a cake for the first time. Or maybe order some food delivery and play a video game.
Whatever it is that you like doing, inhale deeply and recognize that this too, shall pass. Enjoy the time you have now with your family. Enjoy the opportunity to see the world in a different perspective. Remember this is not permanent. Look your loved ones in the eyes when you speak to them. It's perfectly fine to be afraid.
And if you have loved ones that are sick, try to keep in touch as much with them as possible. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

As always,
Stay fierce, Valkyrie!
